Mr. Sam Hamad, Quebec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exportation has announced the nomination of Canadian astronaut Julie Payette as Quebec's scientific delegate in Washington D.C.

According to the Condé Nast Traveler, a prestigious American magazine whose November 2011 edition was published earlier, Québec City was named the sixth best destination in the world, while holding the third rank in North America and the top spot in Canada! Québec City's main competition hails, in order, from Sydney (Australia) in first place, followed by Florence (Italy), Charleston (United States), Cape Town (South Africa) and San Francisco (United States). Québec, who tied Santa Fe (United States), edged out Vancouver, Victoria, Barcelona, Venice and Rome.

The Université Laval and Genome Canada, in partnership with Génome Québec, are pleased to announce that Denis J. Garand, Associate Professor at the Department of Management of the Faculty of Administration, and his team have been awarded $1,12 million for the research project Boosting Entrepreneurial Skills and Training: BEST in Genomics!

The International Real Estate Society Achievement Award for 2011 was granted to Professor François Des Rosiers, Laval University, Quebec City. The IRES is a federation of seven academic real estate societies covering all continents meant at promoting real estate research, education and practice worldwide.

 

The Québec City Convention Centre gets LEED-EB Certification

Just a few days after receiving the AIPC Quality Standard certification, the Québec City Convention Centre receives LEED-EB certification, given by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).   It is the first Canadian convention centre to receive LEED certification for an Existing Building.

 

New partnership between TELUS and Université Laval

The 20-year agreement touches on a number of areas: Stade TELUS-Université Laval, visibility among University sports teams, support for the Rouge et Or sports excellence program, as well as funding for the Leadership and Sustainable Development Scholarship Program.
