The Port of Québec has won two cruise line service excellence
awards (Most Efficient Port Services and Most Responsive Port)
based on the results of a survey conducted among passengers and
crew by Dream World Cruise Destinations magazine during the world's
largest international cruise industry conference.

Former Heads of Government meeting in Quebec City: a global influence
The 20 members of the InterAction Council attending this year's
three-day annual meeting in Quebec
City, include former US President Bill Clinton, former Mexican
President Vicente
Fox and former prime ministers Yasuo
Fukuda (Japan) and
Gro Brundtland (Norway). Co-chairing the meeting:
former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and
former Austrian Chancellor Franz Vranitzky
At today's conclusion of the meeting, the group urged a new
international water ethic and offered political office-holders
today some 21 recommendations for world water management moving
forward.

ABB scientist Henry Buijs receives major award from Canadian Space Agency
ABB, the leader in power and automation technologies, is proud
to announce that Dr. Henry Buijs, Chief Technical Officer at ABB

by the Canadian Space Agency. The agency presented the prestigious
John H. Chapman Award of Excellence to Dr. Buijs at its annual

Quebec City, official member of the Intelligent Community Forum!
In conjunction with the 2011 Building the Broadband Economy
Summit, which was held in New York from June 1-3, Quebec City
became an official member of the influential Intelligent Community
Forum (ICF), an independent think tank dedicated to creating jobs
and developing the digital economy. Along with Shanghai (China),
Taipei (Taiwan), Stockholm (Sweden), Cleveland (US), Manchester
(UK) and Seoul (South Korea), Quebec City joined this select group
thanks to its inclusion last October in the prestigious "Smart 21
Communities of the Year" rankings celebrating the world's most
innovative cities and regions.

The Nightingale and Other Short Fables wins the Claude Rostand Award
The Claude Rostand prize was awarded to The Nightingale and
Other Short Fables on June 20, 2011 by the Syndicat de la critique
in France. This prize is awarded to the best lyrical production
created outside Paris. Quebec will get the chance to discover this
production on August 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2011 as it is part of the
Festival d'opéra de Québec's first edition.

The 2011 CAP Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Physics is awarded to Prof. See L. Chin
The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) is pleased to
announce that the 2011 CAP Medal for Lifetime Achievement in
Physics is awarded to Prof. See L. Chin, Université Laval, for his
outstanding contributions to ultrafast intense laser science.
Professor Chin has been a pioneer in the area of ultrafast intense
lasers, and is now a world-renowned leader in the field. Not only
is he known for the very impressive volume of his scientific work,
but also for his first-rate discoveries and results.

The Convention Centre obtains gold AIPC Quality Standards certification
The program identifies ten key areas, giving 3.7 points out
of 4 to the Québec City Convention Centre. The audited areas
include Customer Service, Quality of Facilities and Operations,
Employee Relations, Health, Safety, Security and Emergency
Response, Financial Integrity, Community Relations, Environmental
Responsibility, Industry Relations and Supplier Relations.
