The Health Food Consortium is made up of agrifood processors in the Quebec City region committed to developing and marketing value-added products designed to contribute to a healthier food offer. The Consortium aims to pool networks of contacts, state-of-the-art technologies and applied knowledge with a view to developing new health foods and ensuring the growth of companies across the region. All agrifood sector stakeholders may take part in the Consortium's initiatives and reap the benefits of the synergies it creates.

A pivot of the health food industry in the Québec metropolitan region

The Consortium is coordinated by Québec International, the regional economic develop­ment agency and the implementation agent for the Quebec City ACCORD program, in association with the regional directorate of the ministère de l'Économie, de la Science et de l'Innovation and the Secrétariat à la Capitale-Nationale. Initiated by the Government of Quebec, the ACCORD program aims to identify and implement groundbreaking projects supporting the development of key sectors in Quebec regions.

In the Quebec City region, six sectors of excellence have been identified, including health foods. The ACCORD Health Foods sector's executive committee, primarily made up of business leaders, is working to develop an action plan aimed at identifying, initiating and facilitating the implementation of projects that will bring together sector stakeholders and position regional expertise in Quebec and around the world.
